I am now mobile at long last having been here a while. I have a small car
known as a KA, though refer to it as my "Noddy" car [Noddy being a
character in English Childrens books who drove a very small car!] It
just keeps running and will travel for a week in the fumes my Buick had
in its empty tank! |

For all my American friends that have never visited England, it is so different
to the 'American Way', but then maybe you have heard me say that many times. The
pace of life is so different here and values are placed on different things than
to America. My home town is fairly central in the country, when you think
England [not including Scotland or Wales] could be placed in Arizona, it gives
you some idea of size! There is such a lot of history attached to my 'home
town'. I won't go into too much detail here, but if you want to know more,
Melanie has produced a web page called This is Derby,
a link to which can be found on the left. Although I live in a suburb of
the city of Derby called Chaddesden, The actual county of Derbyshire is some of
the most beautiful scenery in the United Kingdom, here are a few samples. . . . [Just

From time to
time, I will have some photos put up here, [just so you remember what I look
like!] Well that and other pictures you may find interesting.
There have
been a number of outings planned for me over the first few months while I get
adjusted to life over here again. Things to see old and new, Of course there is
the mass of paper work to fill in registering with Doctors, Dentist and the
like, so I know the first few weeks will be very busy.

One particular trip I am looking forward to is the annual visit to Litchfield
Cathedral to hear the special choir carol concert in the lead up to
Christmas. On the photo below a Christmas tree greets churchgoers as they
enter the Great West doors, which are opened wide at the end of the evening for
the light of the cathedral to illuminate the mist that hovers around at that
time of year. Of course it makes it extra special if we get some snow flurries,
which has happened recently.
